Kent made his first appearance at a promotion test in Oneonta. He demonstrated Dan-Gun and basic techniques along with step sparring before finally breaking a board with a rear leg side kick.

Congratulations to Phineas Brown Collins on earning his blue belt. Blue belt signifies “the plant reaching up to the sky”, indicative of Finn’s strength and power. His precise movements in Yul-Gok are indicative of his dedicated practice and we are proud of his growth and successes.

It was fortunate that Finn could spar with his cousin Cael who earned his first black stripe:

Congratulations to the Hill family for successfully earning their Blue belts on Sept 24, 2009.
For their promotion test, they were required to demonstrate basic techniques, step-sparring, and self-defense. They also performed Yul-Gok and broke two boards each with a rear leg side kick.

Congratulations to David Howard on his successful promotion to blue stripe.  His test required a demonstration of Won-Hyo and a rear leg sidekick to break 2 boards in addition to fundamentals and self-defense.

Terri Graig demonstrating Won Hyo to obtain her blue belt during July 2009 test. Won Hyo is a 28 step movement named after the monk who introduced Buddhism to the Silla Dynasty.

Students at Oneonta Taekwondo test for their belt upgrade. The Hill Family (Tom, Chris and Tyler), Cael McCabe, Alex Lusins, John Buck, Ken Graig, and Matt Goodrich have worked hard to achieve personal goals by their perseverance in Self Control and Improvement of Mind and Body. Other Taekwondo students participate by giving their support from the side lines.

During testing, the Hill Family demonstrates ‘punch in an L-Stance’ as well as one of Oneonta Taekwon-do’s mottos….. “the Unity of Members”. This exhibits a correlation between family and Taekwon-do members. As the Unity of Members motto states “….it is our desire to learn that brings us together as a family”.
