Oneonta Taekwon-do

Original, traditional Taekwon-do

If you don’t know where you’re going, you’ll never get there.

Dear Students,
First, thank you very much for the generous gifts. I was very surprised and happy to receive a gift I can enjoy with my family.

I have been thinking a great deal about the coming changes for Oneonta Taekwon-Do and wanted to share my goals with you.

As I started writing my goals, I prepared one of my Zig Ziglar Goal Worksheets which I wrote about in an article here.  There are a couple of interesting downloads and videos there…

Theory, theory, theory. Blah, blah, blah.

Over the years I’ve read countless articles and books on personal development and the pursuit of goals.  Most of them were put down, tossed aside, <yawn>, NEXT!

A couple of years ago, I was in one of the worst financial struggles of my life and happened to borrow this video by Zig Ziglar on goals.  Before it was over, I had pen in hand, a half dozen of my goals written down, and the 7 critical factors needed to…

Thanks and congratulations to everyone who tested.  It was great to close the year with a black belt interim test and a long overdue promotion for Cael McCabe.

I’ve posted the videos for each student in it’s own article:

Brian Davis 2nd Dan interim test

Finn Brown-Collins earns yellow belt

Jennifer Butler earns blue stripe

Terri Graig earns a blue belt

Cael McCabe earns his 2nd red stripe

It was great fun to finally do a flying side kick.  Thanks to Jennifer and Terri for their trust and thanks to Mr McCabe and Mr. Goodrich for bravely…

Looking for gifts for that special Taekwon-Do student?

Be careful, there is a lot of junk out there! What’s more, some Taekwon-Do practitioners are offended or disappointed when they receive “Karate” gifts or books associated with a different Taekwon-Do style than the one they practice.

Below, I’ve done the hard work of finding the best stuff out there from reliable sites and described, as best I can, the ideal recipient of the gift.

Yes, my wife makes a small commission from some of these links, but you’ll see that it doesn’t affect your price whether you buy through this site…

Congratulations! Judging by your comments on our YouTube videos, it sounds like you’ve trained very hard at Taekwon-Do. It seems from your comments that you consider yourself superior to our students so I’m guessing you have excellent skills and are proud of your teacher. Congratulations. I’m sincerely happy for your accomplishments.

You made some comments so please allow me to return the favor.

Please do this: Print out the page with your comments and bring the printout to your teacher along with a copy of this article. Explain to him or her that you saw a video and…

In the near future, our school will be offering Taekwondo classes to children and I decided to pass this on to our senior students in the hopes it will help them be the best teachers they can be.

The other day, I had the distinct pleasure of practicing with two youngsters aged 12 and 13. As my master taught me, I am in the habit of yelling “Keeyup” when I hit the heavy bag or the focus pads. Tyler and Maya both thought it a little weird, but they humored me and gave it a try. Tyler and I both jumped the first time Maya let her lungs clear with a fierce “Hah!”

As evident in this cute video, sometimes people think the Keeyup is a special word or carries special meaning. In fact, it has very practical…
