Oneonta Taekwon-do

Original, traditional Taekwon-do

A special thanks to Mr. Davis for the delicious breakfast pizzas.  Spicy and delicious.

Thank you to all students who attended.   You are now well prepared for meeting Grandmaster Kim.

As a reminder, the schedule is changing back to a single class per night due to summer attendance being low.  Most likely double classes will resume in September.  Until then, classes are 5:30pm until 6:15pm.  Mr. Davis has offered to spend an additional 5-10 minutes after class to focus on patterns or other drills for those who wish to stay the extra.

Also, students are invited to wear Oneonta Taekwon-do…

Much has been written about goal setting and pursuit of goals. Recently, we began experimenting with “Chore Charts” in our home. What we’ve learned in the past week is a powerful example of goal setting.

A “Chore Chart” is a simple grid which has the days of the week on one side and a list of items on the other. Each day, if a chore has been performed, a sticker or a check mark is placed in the box. At the end of the week, the tally is counted up and some form of reward is given.

On Saturday, June 21, Instructor Raymond Mannion will offer a brief seminar from 9am until 11:30am. All Taekwon-do students are urged to participate. The general public is welcome to attend.

I’m sure Priscilla can relate to this woman’s story. She has great perspective on those first few classes. They can be so intimidating.

Taekwon-do for Women

Every winner was once a beginner. I hope all students of Oneonta Taekwon-do continue to extend their encouragement to new students. It takes tremendous courage to put on a do-bok for the first time.

Her blog is very insightful and motivational. This is an other article she wrote on the benefits of Taekwon-do Workouts for Women.

I came across this interesting article on General Choi, Hong Hi.  Most of you know that he is the man who created the patterns we practice today.  He gave Taekwon-do its name and much of the things we do in class are the same things he was teaching 40 years ago.  Grandmaster Kim trained under General Choi for many years.

I hope you take a few minutes to read the article.

Of course, we can’t always trust 100% of what we find on the internet but I think this is pretty good.
