One Step Sparring Demonstration

One Step Sparring Demonstration

On Thursday, December 13th, 2012, students from Oneonta Taekwondo had the opportunity to give several demonstrations to local middle and high school students as a part of the 2012 SADD/LEAF conference held at the Hunt Union Ballroom, SUNY Oneonta.

The demonstrations focused on how Taekwondo is something positive and life changing. Oneonta Taekwondo students showed patterns and explained why we do them, as well as demonstrated one-step sparring, no-contact sparring and board breaking.

Master Mannion explained to conference attendees how Oneonta Taekwondo students choose to do something positive that instills values through the tenets of courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self control, and indomitable spirit. Also explained was how Taekwondo teaches discipline and how to use methods other than fighting and violence to avoid confrontation.

Students attending the conference were able to ask questions ranging from explaining our belt system to why we break boards and why we yell. They also had an opportunity to learn one of our punching drills and self defense drills.
