Dear Parent,
My name is Ray Mannion and I’ve been teaching self-defense in Oneonta since 2004. People have been asking me for years to teach children’s classes but I’ve resisted until now. It was very important to me that I establish a school with a reputation for integrity. After 5 years, I believe our adults and teens have earned us respect in our community and I am now pleased to invite your child to join our school.
The truth of the matter is I love working with kids. It’s why I taught swimming and diving lessons at my town pools in Suffern, NY and Maplewood, NJ for 12 years. It’s the reason I packed up my belongings at the age of 21 and moved to South Central Los Angeles to become a junior high teacher. It’s also the reason my wife and I are raising 2 great kids who go to Valleyview Elementary.
Effective immediately, I’m opening the doors for 10 children between the ages of 7 and 12. I am committed to giving your child my fullest attention during this time and won’t be taking on additional students until I feel that the initial core group is what I consider to be “leadership material”. By signing your child up right now, he or she will be one of our initial leaders and senior students.
Our tuition is only $195 for 3 months or $350 for 6 months. Classes are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4pm until 4:45.
Because we are just starting this program, I am making a special offer via this letter to reduce the price by $50 if you sign your child up with a friend. Studies show that kids who join with a friend stay with it longer.
Please feel free to visit and observe any of our adult classes at any time. When you meet me and our students, I’m sure you’ll agree that we offer an excellent program.
Sincerely,
Raymond Mannion
